Music by Jason Sebastian Russo

Jason Russo was reared in Hopewell Jct. NY, a town that went from farmland to strip malls by the time he was kicked out of his catholic home for fornication and perceived atheism. He is a songwriter, composer, and blue-collar laborer, and gives excellent free council in the park near his new home in Brooklyn.

He formed the rock band Hopewell in high school and began performing with the infamous Mercury Rev while still in his teens. As of 2010, Hopewell has released its fifth LP, Good Good Desperation, and Russo is kicking off a new project with the release of a solo album under the name Common Prayer. His music has been used in multiple feature film and documentaries, and his renditions of the classic bluegrass numbers Froggy and “Bol Weevil” are used in the opening and closing credits of Alphonso Bow.
